It is all right to start with questions.
You may find an answer here. Anything else can be discussed when you first get in touch.
Do I need a medical prescription?
To use basic health insurance, you need a valid medical prescription and must meet the other coverage requirements. You do not need it simply to make an enquiry. If you wish to pay privately, we can discuss the arrangements directly.
What happens at the first meeting?
There is time for your concerns and questions. I explain how I work, and we discuss expectations, confidentiality and costs. You only need to share what feels possible at that point. Afterwards, you can decide whether you would like to continue.
How long does therapy take?
This varies according to your concerns, goals and circumstances. We discuss an initial plan and review it together as we go. A particular number of sessions is not a promise of a particular outcome.
How long is the waiting list?
Current availability is discussed when you get in touch. This fictional demo has no actual waiting list or bookable appointments. If your need is urgent, your GP can also help you look for suitable support.
Is everything confidential?
Psychotherapists are bound by professional confidentiality. Information is generally shared only with your consent. Exceptions provided by law may apply, for example in certain situations involving danger. Information needed for billing and collaboration is discussed transparently at the start.
Can I have appointments online?
This practice concept offers in-person appointments only. If you need online therapy, look for a service equipped to provide it and check privacy arrangements and insurance cover before you begin.
What if I need urgent help?
This practice does not provide emergency care. Call 144 in a medical emergency or if there is immediate danger. Die Dargebotene Hand is available on 143 around the clock; children and young people can contact Pro Juventute on 147. Do not wait for an email reply in an emergency.
How are psychologists, psychotherapists and psychiatrists different?
Psychologists have a degree in psychology. Psychological psychotherapists have also completed recognised postgraduate psychotherapy training. Psychiatrists are medical doctors with specialist training; they can also prescribe medication.
Do I need to know exactly what is wrong?
No. Feeling overwhelmed, worrying persistently or simply wanting to understand your experience can be a starting point. Together, we can explore what support might be appropriate. Not every difficult period requires psychotherapy.
Can I bring someone I trust?
Please discuss this in advance. A joint conversation may be helpful by arrangement. Your consent and needs remain central, and the overall treatment remains individual therapy.
You do not have to find all the words yet.
For an initial enquiry, your name and a way to reach you are enough. Please do not send personal health information by email.
